What might cause confusion in the title is quickly resolved. What do diaphragm pumps have to do at a building owners' conference? In the end, they are a great example of what is possible today in terms of digitization and IoT. Whether it's about automatically sending error messages to the responsible authorities, predicting maintenance work, increasing the efficiency of individual pumps or having an entire conglomerate of diaphragm pumps intelligently connect and communicate with each other — the use cases are extremely diverse. And the resulting business opportunities are extremely attractive.
How these use cases and business opportunities can be adapted to the construction industry was the subject of the second part of the presentation. Using our new company headquarters as an example, Vollack partner Carsten Kipper spoke about opportunities that already exist today and prospects for a future not far away. As a result, we were able to virtually visit our premises using augmented and virtual reality during the BIM-based planning phase and experience them realistically. But that is just the beginning. From predictive maintenance to individual comfort temperatures to networked locations, many innovative ideas are not only conceivable, but have now also become tangible with the help of appropriate technology and software.
